Ref. STEVE: As per Leigh, Steve just got out of his back closure surgery and it went well. My main focus to keep his stress level as low as possible. He is getting moved out of ICU today. Let’s hope he’s on the mend!
Richard
Ref: Steve: Just recievd this a few minutes ago from leigh Steve's girl friend.
No real change in Steve. He rested fairly well last night in ICU. Nic is up to see him today.
I'm hoping to be on deck tomorrow. I acquired poison ivy working his yard last Friday. I'm being proactive on it but it's still spreading.
I had Ivy many times quite intensely as a child, so this isn't my first rodeo. I haven't told Steve cause he doesn't need that on his mind.
I'm just covering it up and being VERY careful. If it continues to spread, I may have to not see him for a while and Nic will fill in the visits.
Yes, challenging to say the least.
Feel free to update the boys, as I can't possibly contact everyone personally.
All in all... all is good. Steve is doing as well as can be expected at this point.
Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
Ref.: STEVE Gerhardt- Nothing to report today other than Steve is still in ICU. Leigh thanks us all for the prayers and well wishes.

Ref. Steve GERHEARDT- I spoke with Nichole this morning (Steve's daughter) They have taken the breathing tubes out today and he's breathing on his own. Will post more as it comes in.
Ref. STEVE GERHARDT; I just received the following update from Steve's friend Leigh. Please continue to keep them in your prayers as well. Also feel free to pass this on to other members that are unable to use the web site.
Leigh-I was just getting online to put out updates. I have Steve's phone at the moment, so he hasn't gotten any messages. No calls... he's not up to that task yet.
Ok... Sunday the leg surgery went well. Monday surgery fixed his back, however some complications occurred. Yesterday was a crazy day so I had to step away and just deal with hospital issues. Nic (Army daughter) is up there now and he's stable and resting, but there may be a underlining heart issue to deal with. It's gonna be a long and painful recovery. All we can do is today. Today is a much better day than yesterday, so all is good. Feel free to share and thank everyone for there love and support. I'll update when I can with any changes as they come along. We both feel so blessed for all the people that care and are there for us especially now. Wish I could answer everyone's inquiries but there isn't enough time, so sharing is the best way to get it done. Thanks for your help and prayers. I am so blessed to have been welcomed into the Reunion family!
Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
Ref: STEVE GERHARDT: I received info from Gil yesterday that Steve has been in a lawnmower accident Friday according to Steve's friend Leigh Goebel.
I spoke with Steve's daughter Nichol today who informed me of the following incident.
Steve was unloading his riding lawnmower from his trailer that was hitched to his pick-up truck. The truck started rolling and he tried to grab the steering wheel in the truck to turn it to keep it from going into the road. Fortunately he managed to turn the wheel but in doing so slid down and one of the back tires ran over his right leg thus causing compound fractures. He also suffered his left ear being torn severely, several fractured vertebrae, fractured pelvis (hip), several broken ribs, and a deflated lung which according to his daughter is healing properly. He was scheduled for back and leg surgery this morning.
I shared prayer with them about the time Steve was to undergo surgery. The hospital is: Strong Memorial Hospital, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642. The hospital is still undergoing Covid protocol. I will post any info as soon as I receive it from Leigh or Nichol. Steve's going to need a lot of prayers right now so let's keep our brother in our thoughts and prayers. Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
Ref: Harry Fetsick: I spoke with Harry today. He informed me that he and his family weren't going to be making the reunion this year. he sends his regards to all.
REF. COVID- As most of you are seeing the same thing in your state as I am mine. Covid cases are rising. One hospital in N.C. went on the air saying their ICU was all UNVACINATED Covid patients filled to capacity. We've had members here and family members of same catch Covid. Remember to wear your mask and "Get your spot for YOUR shot."
REF: BILL DAHLIN- Bill had one ablation tube inserted through his leg last week and has one to two more to go. Bill is a great Christian man and fine supporter of the association. Please keep him in your prayers for a successful procedure(s). Remember cards, calls emails, and prayers go a long way!

Ref: Wallace Bates: I spoke with Wallace today. He informed me that during one of the last storms (Ala.) he was trying to get his dog and head to the cellar. He slipped and hit his head and injured his shoulder. He had surgery/stitches and is on the mend from that. He told me that he and Trudy are hoping to make Gettysburg's reunion. Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
Ref.: DAN REEVES= I spoke with Dan yesterday and he's out of the hospital, stints implanted in his arteries to his heart and giving his body time to accept them. His cardiologist stated they like to wait a few months before heart surgery after implanting them. Dan says it will be the end of this year or first of next for the heart surgery. Remember, cards, calls, emails, prayers go a long way!
To David Kermit Frazee. The only information I founded on your grandfather. He enlisted on 2 August 1941 at Rutland, Vermont SN: 31046320. He is not shown in the 17th Field Artillery Regiment year book dated 1941, so he must of joined the regiment after 1941. If you want some information on what the 1st Battalion 17th Field Artillery Regiment did during WW II. Please email me at kurtz_t@comcast.net
looking for any info on the service of my uncle SSGT Grosvenor I. Drown, known as "Bud" from Barton, VT, who served in C Battery, 17th Field Artillery from North Africa to Central Europe. I have some photos of him with buddie possibly in Paris.. Bud died back in January 1964.
Ref. DAN REEVES- I spoke to Dan today to check on his health. He said they had called back and canceled his surgery but called back later and set him up with a June 7th appointment with cardiologist. He'll no more after the visit. Remember cards, calls, emails, especially prayers go a long way.
Ref. : DAN REEVES update- I sent Dan a text message today. He replied a few minutes ago. "Yesterday was a rough one but light in the tunnel right now. They were finally successful after 4 hours, getting 2 stints installed. The vein was so blocked they had to stop and restart multiple times because BP got so low. They had to administer nitro twice so my head was splitting through the procedure until 9 p.m. last night.
Hope it's not the train coming towards me. All of this is temporary until they can complete heart surgery in six months.
Not much service provided when you have covid. I do many things for myself or wait multiple hours. But now I am prepared to go home and do things for myself." Dan
I texted Dan back to see if he could talk but have no reply as of yet. Please continue to keep Dan in your thoughts and prayers. Remember cards, 'texting', emails and prayers go a long way! Richard
Ref. DAN REEVES: I received a call and the following email from Gil this morning regarding Dad Reeve's condition. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
Good Morning, Richard,
Hold onto your hat. Dan Reeves is in the hospital.
On Saturday, May 1 – Dan went to Emergency with chest pains. They worked on him for a couple of hours and then gave him a COVID test and he came up positive for COVID.
At some point in time – he was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center. Because of COVID, the doctors could not take care of his heart issues until he had COVID under control. So, the past few days he has been in “isolation,” receiving all his care with medical personnel all dressed up in PPE. He sounded bad and was very tired throughout his bout with COVID. It is not easy sleeping on your side and rotating from side to side so your lungs can work better.
Dan states that he has lost 40 pounds in the past weeks. We probably will not recognize him.
Today is Friday – May 07 – and at 12:30 pm (West Coast time) the doctors will be performing an angioplasty procedure on him and will probably place three stents on his artery.
Not sure when we can communicate with him again – but a text will cheer him up.
Keep him in your prayers.
Gil
You might try texting Dan in case he can't talk. I don't have the address for the hospital at present. Again, Remember cards, calls (or texting) emails, and prayers can go a long way! Richard
