I am looking for some information on under what circumstances members of the 39th Field Artillery regiment may have been transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the 17th FA. My grandfather was serving in the 39th FA under the 3rd Division but he received a Silver Star with th 2nd BN, 17th FA at El Guettar.

Does anyone know why he may have been transferred? Was the 2nd BN resupplied by other units after their losses?

Howdy all, I was sent this URL from John Picciolo from another of the 17th's websites. I was trying to find any information about my father LT Robert Howard Mouton. I know he served with the 17th FA in Vietnam, but am not really sure of the timeframe. I believe it was around '68. We never had the chance to talk Army when he was around, and now that he is gone I would like to know more about his time. For some reason B Battery stands out in my mind, but again I am unsure. I am looking for anyone who knew my brother, George B. Colgan. He served in Vietnam July 1968 until his death in Buprang December 1969. Was mostly in An Khe. Any remembrances, information, etc. would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Great Site, I served with SVC Btry 1st Bn 17th FA, 75th FA Bde as a SGT 13B20. C and A Btry's 4th Bn 29th FA, 8th Inf Div (MECH), Baumholder Germany 2nd Plt(s) were sent to the Gulf on Jan 29 1991 out of Rhein Mein AB-Frankfurt, with a fuel stop in Crete, Greece before arriving at KKMC in Saudi Arabia. 1st section from my Plt and 1st section from A Btry's Platoon on 2 Feb 2002 was attached to the 1st Bn 17th FA and served with distinction during Operation Desert Storm.
