CommentsTo all who are on our roster: Be on the look out for our newsletter coming soon to you via US Mail. Also we need to get our reservations and make arrangements for the reunion in June 2001. For more information see reunions section of site or contact me at the above email address. Time is getting close. We now have 212 veterans on our roster with hundreds of leads to contact as of yet. Keep working on them and we'll find them all. See you at the reunion! Norman R. Jones
CommentsNewsletters are being sent all over the world at this time. I would like to thank John Detreville for being so instrumental with helping us to locate approximately 15-20 officers that served with the 2/17th Artillery. Norman R. Jones
CommentsNeed information from 70-71 vets. Searching for possible 17th KIA's. A CSM and WO died in a helicopter crash in 1970. I have a CSM Machristie and WO Berhens listed as KIA on Dec 4, 1970 from the TAGCEN files. Does anyone remember the incident or names. Berhens was listed as pilot and attached to 17th and Machristie as a passenger. Flight was from Nha Trang to Ban Me Thout.
CommentsI was assigned to Hq&Hq 2nd/17th as the Property Book Officer and S4. I was placed on the rear party when the unit left Sill in 1965. Had to close out all the Station Property. Some one commented that I stretched out the time stateside by turning in 2 buildings and drawing back 1. Any how I stayed as Bn S4 from Sep65 to Aug66 in AnKhe. With the 1ST Cav at our back door for protection. Rank at the time was CW02, retired in 69 as a W3. Haven't had many good thoughts about Nam. I know I went there with blond hair and came back with gray, that's a fact. Best wishes to all Persuaders.

CommentsLooking at past entries there seems to be no one from the late 80's and early 90's. I will break that string now. I served with 3/17 FA BN in Ansbach, GE from Nov 88 to Oct 91 and in Fort Sill, from Oct 91 to Jun 92.
CommentsI just wanted to thank everyone for their comments on the site. I really do appreciate them. I am glad to be part of the organization and it makes me feel good to see that I can provide a means for us to communicate with each other. Thanks again. Ed.

Veterans . . . WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!! Have you ever done time in a veteran's hospital? This not-for-profit group works to lessen the bleakness that permeates most Veterans Administration hospitals. Check out the Kitchen Table Gang Trust at http://taliaferro.net/veterans A lot of military veterans have deemed our efforts worthy of support and we hope you will too. Thanks!

CommentsI am passing on this message for Charles Orr since he doesn't have an E-mail address. Rich Siebe "I'm looking for a picture taken in 1967 D Btry before it was disbanded. I was with D Btry and went to C Btry until 4/9/68. I lost it about 20 years ago. There were some guys that went to C Btry with me and were killed 4/3/68." If anyone has that picture or know some one that has a copy , Charles would like to get a copy for his Grandson. You can contact Charles at (480) 649-5516 |
