CommentsReceived a call today from the 1ST CAV Association. They have 31 members that were with the 17th Artillery and have mailed the data base to me. As soon as I get it I will make contact with them, and inform all about the association. We are about to reach the milestone of 200 veterans. Norman R. Jones

CommentsHat's off to everyone who has worked so hard and continues to keep this website alive and well. Everytime I open this site up, which by the way is daily, it makes me feel very proud to have been with C Btry 2/17 Arty in Nam and a member of the 17th Arty Regiment Assc now. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Sill this June.

Talked with Jerry "Doc" Cody and Ronnie "Jr" Cantrell.Plan on joining the Association and hope to be at Ft Sill in June. Thanks to Richard Jones for getting in touch with me.
CommentsI was in Service Battery 2/17 Field Artillery in 1969 to November 1970. I recall Dickerson, Reinhart, Linahan, and there were lots of other guys who were not beer drinkers LOL. We moved from Ane Khe (spelling?) to Bam Me Thout early in my tour. We moved Headquarters and Service Batteries by truck. I worked in the personnel office and typed orders for the guys to go home even though I trained on the guns at Fort Sill. I remember Sgt. Parks as the supervisor early in my tour. I remember the KIAs from C Battery - Captain Cogan among them. I was told that there was a helicopter accident involving the Seargeant Major a few months after I went home.

CommentsI'm very impressed with the Web Site. I am very interested in establishing contact with anyone I served with during my 20 years in the Army.
CommentsA reminder to all 17th vets. We are still collecting memorabilia for our unit's room at Fort Sill. We will have the walls of a classroom at Snow Hall to display the 17th's history. We need photos, flags, newspaper clippings, unit citations, patches, etc. covering the 17th Artillery from 1917 to the present. We will have to hang everything on the walls so everything must be framed or mounted. If you have any questions contact Norman (Richard) Jones or myself. We will start displaying in June at the reunion.
CommentsHey Mike this is really a nice web site you were right this was built very professional. I will add a link to our site tomorrow. Good Luck with the Web site Great Job Jack
CommentsI enjoyed the web site. I came across your site while viewing the 15th FA web site for information on LZ Schueller. I was researching LZ Schueller for my father, Bob West, who served as 1SG with HHB 2/17 at Camp Radcliff and B Battery 2/17 at LZ Schueller, RVN, 1968 – 1969. The B Btry CFB at that time was SFC Schultz. I told my father about the Association and he said to sign him up. The membership application is “On the Way”. He’s not on the web yet but I will pass on any e-mail. We are both “Red Legs” but I never served with the 17th FA. Good luck with the membership drive. |
