CommentsBeen meaning to join and wondering how many members you have that served in the 3rd Bn in Germany? I was in the 3/39 when it was deactivated and converted to the 3/17. One of the 3/39's "Atomic Cannons" was shipped to Fort Sill to place on display. I was in 1st Recon & Survey Section of Headquarters Battery my entire time in the 3/17. I try to remember to get my application completed and mailed in soon. Take care, Alan
CommentsLooking for information on LZ George. I received a few photos of Ralph McCowan, C Btry KIA on April 3, 1968. His niece sent me the pictures. One has Ralph, another Ralph and Sgt Fred, and the third has Ralph and Sgt Melton. They are dated March 29, 1968 and LZ George is written on the back.I have the battery at Ky Son South on the 3rd of April, the date of the attack. Are LZ George and Ky Son South the same position ? Does anyone remember Sgt Fred or Sgt Melton ?
CommentsHello- I served in Hq Btry "Red-Eye" missile section from July '69 to Aug '70. ANYONE ELSE? E-Mail me
CommentsI don't remember what battery I was in. Capt. Breen was in charge from about December 65 to July,66. So--that battery. Sgt Brown was the man I most remember. I hope he is alive and happy. I hope Russel Goins straightened up,and flew right. If he did, then all is well. I went to school, became a fisheries biologist,(UofWa), And Became involved in commercial fishing. I still am involved in fishing--I spend too much time in the Bering sea. We have 4 children, and I've been married for 37 years(yes,I married her). I live in the foothills of the Cascades, have a couple horses--or they have me. We garden and grow big tomatoes. build and fly quarter scale old airplanes. Lately I've missed you guys.
