CommentsI have been working on a web page about Camp St Barbara, Korea. I know that part of the 17th FA was there near the end, and after the Korean War. If any of your guys were there then, they may enjoy the page, and may have some pictures to add to it. http://www.qsl.net/wd4ngb/stbarbara.htm I was assigned there in 1969-70 on one of my four tours in Korea.
CommentsOn behalf of the 17th Artillery Regiment Association Officers and their families, we wish all veterans, current active duty members and their families, of the 17th Artillery, a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We also offer our prays for the safe keeping and the return of all soldiers serving overseas. You are always in our thoughts and prays. Thomas R. Kurtz President 17th Artillery Regiment Association
CommentsI spent Christmas of '69 out on LZ Action. Christmas Eve I was on duty in OP 1 (the big tower on the highest point of LZ Action). I spent my time just staring out into the night, there was a ceasefire and so I wasn't wasting the taxpayer money thumping away on the .50. At midnight I noticed a green light coming from the perimieter wire down at Pump Station 7 (think it was 7 - been a lot of years) At first I thought that they had some one coming through the wire, but the green light started to grow and take on shape. By then I could here other people on the base talking about the smoke and fire. Little by little a smokey green MERRY CHRISTMAS, written in signal flares, formed along the wire. If any of those guys ever come on this site - Merry Christmas to you too. And MERRY CHRISTMAS to the rest of you Persuaders. Steve

CommentsIt was good to talk to some of the guys after 35 years. Top Vernor,Charles Orr and Ray Comeaux. Thanks Ray for the Battery Picture but i wasn't in it. I guess it was after the gun blew up and we was in the rear at AnKhe,the reason i say we is the other guys that was on that gun is not in it either. And i have to say thanks to Norman Jones for the phone call and the letter from Tom Kurtz. It was good to hear from all of you and hope to hear from all of the guys soon. Ron Skirvin
CommentsHad a long conversation with Ron Skirvin last night an he too confirms that the firebase that has been reffered to as Ky Son South was actually named LZ GEORGE. Where the name Ky Son South comes in being is beyond the relm of authenticity. When the name was changed to Ky Son South no one can seem to come up with the answer. Could some one out there that knows please enlighten the old timers whom originaly occupied that base and returned to it after we were moved to another fire base after the attack on 3 April 68. Please free to call me or email me on the TRUE answer. TOP VERNOR
