CommentsWHAT A SHOCK! I had an artillery shirt that I bought at Gettysburg, PA about five years ago and lost it. I wasn't doing anything so I pulled up a search for artillery t-shirts and find a site on the 17th FA. After speaking with Michael Burke by phone from NC to Calf. I was informed that I was the first one he had met from the 4th/17th FA. (The 4th was the Reserve unit based out of NC with dear old Ft. Bragg as our training grounds. I was in A Battery) I was straight US Army Reserve Nov. 1974-Feb 1978. I went through basic infantry training at Ft Polk, LA and the happiest day of my life was leaving there going to Ft. Sill (Aug.-Oct 1975) If any of you guys were stationed there during that time please let me hear from you. My old battery there was Echo-1. We stayed in the brand new brick barracks (new at the time) near the railroad tracks. Anything was better than the WWI barracks at Polk. I've always wanted to return to Ft Sill. I still have my bright red beret and the 17thFA unit crest on it right above my desk next to a model of an M-110SP that my unit was assigned. Didn't mean to take up so much time but the shock is still hitting me and realty hope to meet or talk to some of you guys soon. Richard Smith
CommentsIts good to see the Guestbook back in order again. It's getting close to the Reunion once again and as a friendly reminder to all you 17th Vets that we've got a good supply of Caps & T Shirts. There's still plenty of time to for me to ship new T Shirts or Caps to you before the trip to Ft Sill in Oct. If you haven't had the chance to check our stuff out just go to the start page of our Website and take a look. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you at Ft Sill. If you've never attended one of our Reunions you need to experience it. It's guaranteed to be the time of your life. Mike Burke--C Btry 2/17th Arty, RVN
CommentsI have started collecting D.I.'s and patches associated with the 17th Artillery Regiment. I am picking them up one at a time from E-Bay and a few military shows. I need some information on attached units and units we supported from 1917 to the present. Please send me any units you know that we can associate with our regiment's history. All I am looking for are leads on what to look for at the shows and E-Bay. I am looking for information on Armies, Corps, Groups, Brigades, etc. Some examples: WWI 17th supported 2nd Infantry Division WWII 17th attached to 13th Artillery Brigade, Supported II Corps, VI Corps, 1st Infantry Division, 7th Army Thanks Jack Picciolo C Btry 2/17th FA 65-66
