CommentsTo Members I know I demoted LT GEN. Hal Moore. If anyone was offended I apologize, but maybe that's what he gets for not giving the 17th any play in the book and movie.
CommentsJust trying to come on as a member. I was with Battery C, 17th FA Bn. July 1949 - December 1951. Went to Korea as 1st Sgt of the Battery and was Battery Commander of the Battery when I left in Dec 51. I had turned the Battery over to Capt. Paul Blew and had gone to the Commonwealth Div as liaison awaiting my orders home when after several days got a call that Capt. Blew had crossed the line and had been either captured or killed. I was ordered to return ro the Battery and resume command until a new replacement could be obtained, which I did. This took about another 2 weeks. I don't remember the name of the Capt. who came in to take my place. I very well remember Kunu-Ri and many of those mentioned in the article.
CommentsBelow is an email that I received from L. B. Scott a 17th FA Veteran. We appreciate this type of recognition. Subj: Membership Date: 4/25/02 5:13:41 PM Central Daylight Time From: LScott1033@aol.com To: JonesNormR68 Norm........Thank you for sending the membership application to me. It got here today and has been filled out and sent with check for life membership. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had already been included on the membership roster. I would say thats efficiency plus which tells me a great deal about the folks in the assn. I certainly look forward to being associated with you all and appreciate you very much. This morning I called Charlie Rom who was our Detail Section Chief and lives here in Lawton. I'm working on him to get him to join. I have had emails from some of the members already so I can see some interesting things developing. Best Regards, L. B. |
