This year our 15th annual reunion was held in Beautiful San Antonio, Texas. Veterans started arriving on Monday 23 Sept 2013 and continued arriving thru Thursday. The reminiscing began immediately. There were several in attendance for their first time. It was a pleasure to meet them and talk about their tour with the 17th Artillery. One of our Veterans (Rodivico Guerrero) invited his Daughter and Son in Law who is a Vietnam Veteran from an aviation unit to attend. His son in law became our photographer for the reunion. All of the pictures below were taken by him (John Peredo). John was accompanied by his lovely wife Berty.
The general membership meeting was held on Friday. A new president was elected (James Sanders) , This is the first time James has been elected to a position. He is always in attendance at the reunions. The membership voted to have 4 scholarships again this year. It was voted that our 1st place scholarship will be named after Larry Miller. There were several donations to the 1st place scholarship. Gilbert Bernabe volunteered and was appointed as Scholarship Chairman.
Our Banquet was also held on Friday. The guest speaker was one of our life members, Bill Dahlin, He spoke very highly of Larry Miller. The banquet and auction went well with Jerry Cody as the auctioneer. A lot of thanks to the vets that brought items for the auction and to those doing the bidding.
Thanks to all of the veterans, their family members who attended this year’s reunion. I hope everyone had a great and enjoyable time and are planning to attend next year’s reunion in Asheville, North Carolina.
